The 1950s were a magical time in Detroit. The post-war era brought an economic boom to the city and big American cars were once again the rage.
Briggs Stadium was the home of the Detroit Tigers and a young, skinny ball player named Al Kaline was patrolling right field.
The video below was shot by a New York family visiting Detroit in August of 1956. They came to town to watch the New York Yankees battle the Tigers. This is amazing footage from the fans’ perspective — and it captures the essence of the era.
